According to the SMMT Industry Forum, there should be three areas of focus for improvement: within a company, a company and its supplier partners, and the supply chains responsible for each major assembly. This section deals mainly with the in-company focus. However, the tools in this section can be used for the other focus areas when used with mapping tools and supplier partnership concepts.
