    The Workshops

Through group exercises, the workshops allow participants to understand all the material flows and information flows required to produce a particular product.

The first workshop takes the participants step-by-step through developing their own current state Value Stream Map, usually from customer through to supplier. The second workshop is a transition between the current and future states where detailed current state information is used to develop a deeper understanding of the current situation and what can be achieved in the future.

The final workshop focuses on implementation, sustaining and improving through development of a continuous flow project. The outcome of the final workshop is a future state Value Stream Map along with target conditions, an implementation plan and defined measures for indicating performance against goals.
    Key Concepts

    The participants will learn:

  • How to calculate takt time for your business to understand customer requirements

  • The importance of measuring performance at major processes through Key Performance Indicators such as cycle time, changeover time, uptime and scrap rate

  • To develop an appreciation for production lead time versus processing time

  • How to manage production volumes and mixes

  • What real work is, through conducting a process study and how to distinguish between value-adding and non value-adding elements

  • How to use the Seven Wastes to reduce cycle times through a Paper Kaizen and balance the work between operations

  • The importance of people, machines, materials and layout considerations in developing a "lean" future state
  • Who, Where & What

We can run the workshop at your site, as this is generally most convenient. The basic requirement is a room with data projector and space for workshop activities for up to 8 people. We will organise an external venue if this is required.
