The Game
The Buckingham Lean Workshop teaches basic Lean techniques in a fast, powerful way. Simulation exercises propel participants into real life situations where they learn new concepts and how to apply them to make effective decisions.
Group exercises build teamwork and challenge preconceptions in a fun environment where people are encouraged to take risks in order to learn. Participants come away with real enthusiasm and the skills to create immediate improvement in your company.
The Workshop takes approximately 4 hours and is suitable for around 10-15 participants. Energy and enthusiasm is sustained through a series of 10-minute simulation exercises. Performance is scored after each exercise so that participants can pinpoint mistakes and good decisions.
Key Concepts
The Workshops key focus is improving profitability through fulfilling the customer's needs - rather than traditional measures of success, such as throughput.
It gives participants the tools to challenge current manufacturing practices and redesign them for improved customer service and lower cost.
The Workshop concentrates on the four dimensions of competitiveness - product performance, quality, cost and time.
It simulates the production of multiple products and encourages the team to move from a traditional push big batch, slow response environment, with limited flexibility - to a lean pull, best practice environment where techniques such as kanban, set-up time reduction, line balancing, flexibility, quality and batch size reduction are introduced and tested.
